FENI, May 29, 2026 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Affairs Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo today exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings with people from Daganbhuiyan and Sonagazi upazilas of the district.
The minister offered Jumma prayers at Sonagazi Central Mosque, where he greeted worshippers on the occasion of Eid and delivered a brief speech.
Special prayers were also offered for Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Speaking on the occasion, Mintoo said the contributions of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia to the country would always be remembered. Tarique Rahman, he said, has been working relentlessly for the development and welfare of the nation.
After the prayers, the minister exchanged Eid greetings with worshippers and local residents.
Upazila BNP Convener Joynal Abedin Bablu, Joint Convener Jamal Uddin Sentu, Member Secretary Syed Alam Bhuiyan, District Krishak Dal General Secretary Shamsuddin Khokon, District Mohila Dal Senior Vice-President Jannatun Ferdous Mita and Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Khurshid Alam Bhuiyan, a large number of local residents and party activists were present.
Earlier in the day, the minister exchanged greetings with District Administrator Monira Haque, Superintendent of Police Md. Shafiqul Islam, District BNP Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal and Joint Conveners Gazi Habib Ullah Manik, Anowar Hossain Patwari and among others at Dulamia Cotton Mill in Daganbhuiyan.
Mintoo arrived in his constituency in the afternoon of Eid-ul-Azha. Later, he exchanged greetings with residents of Daganbhuiyan and Silonia Bazar.
A large number of party leaders and activists, led by Upazila BNP Convener Md. Akbar Hossain, welcomed the minister.
Akbar Hossain said the minister is scheduled to attend a programme in Daganbhuiyan on Saturday marking the martyrdom anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman.
He is also expected to join another commemorative programme in Sonagazi on Sunday morning.
