DHAKA, May 29, 2026 (BSS) -The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has set a target to remove 11,776 tons of sacrificial waste on the second day of Eid-ul-Azha as part of its comprehensive waste management plan.
DSCC Administrator renowned freedom fighter Md. Abdus Salam disclosed the information while visiting the site of temporary cattle market at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony here this morning.
During the visit, he inspected the ongoing waste removal operations and instructed the officials and workers concerned to complete the work within the targeted time.
The Administrator said through the coordinated efforts of conservancy workers, transport personnel and relevant departments, the target would be achieved within the stipulated time.
He informed that by 12am midnight on Thursday, the first day of Eid, a total of 14,814 tons of sacrificial waste from different wards and temporary cattle markets were transported to the Matuail landfill site.
He added that uninterrupted waste removal operations are continuing across the areas under DSCC jurisdiction to ensure the quick disposal of waste generated from sacrificial animals and temporary cattle markets during Eid-ul-Azha.
Officials and employees of the DSCC waste management department and related divisions are working round- the -clock in the field to ensure a clean and healthy environment for city residents, he said.
“Like the first day of Eid-ul-Azha, waste removal operations from sacrificial animals and temporary cattle markets are being carried out vigorously on the second day. We are committed to removing all waste within the shortest possible time to ensure comfort for city residents,” the administrator said.
Replying to a question from the journalists, he warned that strict legal action would be taken against leaseholders if any allegations are found regarding the expansion of temporary cattle markets beyond designated areas or illegal occupation of roads. Fines and blacklisting may also be imposed if necessary, he added.
The DSCC Administrator urged the city dwellers to perform their sacrifices at designated places, dispose of animal waste at specified locations and cooperate sincerely with the city corporation’s cleaning activities.
To expedite waste removal during Eid-ul-Azha, DSCC has deployed additional manpower, vehicles, containers and sanitation equipment across its jurisdiction. A special monitoring team is also working round the clock to oversee the entire drive.
