DHAKA, May 28, 2026 (BSS)- The main Eid-ul-Azha Jamaat in the capital was held at 7:30 am at the National Eidgah under the management of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, along with Cabinet members, judges, senior government officials and foreign diplomats, joined the main congregation.
The congregation at the National Eidgah was led by Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Khatib Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek.
Worshippers began entering the Eidgah under strict security checks and long queues nearly two hours before the scheduled time of the congregation.
Devotees started arriving at the National Eidgah ground from different areas of the capital since early morning. The entire Eidgah ground overflew beyond its capacity much before the prayer began.
Law enforcement agencies allowed worshippers to enter the Eidgah after three phases of security screening to ensure safety.
Comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure a safe, smooth and comfortable prayer environment with modern facilities and separate provisions for men and women worshippers.
The National Eidgah spans around 30,000 square metres, including a 25,400-square-metre main prayer pavilion. There had a total of 121 rows, allowing around 35,000 worshippers to offer prayers at a time.
