JHENAIDAH, May 27, 2026 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman today said the trial in the sensational Ramisa rape and murder case will begin on June 1.

“I had said the charge sheet in the Ramisa murder case would be submitted within a week. As you have seen, we submitted it even before the completion of one week. We wanted to maintain transparency in the trial process in line with the standards of justice. At the same time, we have been working relentlessly to ensure an exemplary trial process for those involved in such crimes. As part of that effort, the trial proceedings in the Ramisa murder case are set to begin on June 1,” he said.

The law minister made the remarks while addressing as chief guest at “The Grand Finale” organised by Medha O Monon Mancha on the Shailkupa Government Degree College field this afternoon.

Md Asaduzzaman said steps would be taken promptly to address the long delays in preparing paper books for death row convicts.

“However, not only the government is involved in this matter, the Supreme Court is also involved. I have already spoken to the Chief Justice, and I will take all necessary measures to expedite the punishment, trial and overall judicial process of death row convicts. In this way, we remain committed,” he said.

Urging people to remain patient, the minister said, “Like the Ramisa case, we will dispose of the cases of all death row convicts, including Magura’s Asiya case, as quickly as possible.”

He further said, “While serving as Attorney General, some of the most sensitive murder cases in Bangladesh included the murder cases of Major Sinha and Abrar Fahad. We wanted to complete the trial proceedings of these cases up to the High Court on a priority basis. We also expect the Appellate Division to take prompt steps in these matters as quickly as possible.”

Presided over by Medha O Monon Mancha President Masum Billah Turza, the programme was attended by Prof Dr AKM Matinur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University, Prabir Saha Bidyut, chairman of Rose Sweaters Limited, and Mahfuzur Rahman, among others.

At the programme, crests and certificates were distributed among more than 500 students from Shailkupa who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC examinations in 2025 and 2026. Prizes were also distributed among winners of various competitions held throughout the year.
