GAIBANDHA, MAY 27, 2026 (BSS) – Md. Lutfar Rahman, widely and affectionately known as Ek Takar Master (the One-Taka Teacher), received Eid gifts today from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in recognition of his outstanding contribution to educating underprivileged local children.
 
On behalf of the Prime Minister, Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Masudur Rahman Mollah visited Lutfar Rahman’s home in Baguria village under Gidari union of Sadar upazila this afternoon to hand over the special gifts ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
 
Upon receiving the recognition, an emotional Lutfar Rahman burst into tears. Expressing his deep gratitude, he thanked the Prime Minister for the thoughtful gesture and prayed for his long, healthy life.
 
Lutfar Rahman has earned widespread respect by tutoring local children for years, charging a token fee of just one Taka per student. His dedication to making education accessible to all earned him his unique moniker among the local people.
 
His selfless service recently caught the nation's attention through various newspaper and social media reports, eventually drawing the notice of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman himself.
 
Wishing to ensure that the dedicated teacher celebrates the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha peacefully and joyfully, the Prime Minister sent a comprehensive gift package.
 
According to the DC, the package included essential Eid food items, festive clothing such as a panjabi, lungi and tupi (cap) for Lutfar Rahman and a saree for his wife.
 
Additionally, cash assistance was provided on behalf of the Prime Minister to help fund Lutfar Rahman's medical treatment.
 
The Prime Minister’s heartfelt gesture of honoring a grassroots educator has been warmly received and highly praised by residents and civil society members across the district.
