DHAKA, May 23, 2026 (BSS) – Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam today said the benefits of projects implemented with public funds must be ensured for the people, stressing transparency and accountability in all stages of project execution.
She made the remarks while addressing a meeting on the implementation progress review of the Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) for April under the 2025–26 fiscal year at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism in the Bangladesh Secretariat, said an official handout.
The minister said the remaining works of the ongoing projects must be completed within the shortest possible time in line with the directives of the Prime Minister.
She also stressed the need for proper feasibility assessment before undertaking any new project in the aviation and tourism sectors in the future.
Highlighting the importance of effective planning, Afroza Khanam said no infrastructure or facility should be constructed without a proper action plan.
She further directed the authorities concerned to play a more cautious and responsible role in monitoring contractors’ activities and project implementation progress.
The minister said ensuring transparency and accountability in project implementation is essential and instructed officials to maintain strict supervision at all levels so that public money is utilised properly for the welfare of the people.
Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar chaired the meeting.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmud Siddiqui, senior officials of the ministry and CAAB, and directors of different ongoing projects, among others, attended the meeting.
