DHAKA, May 23, 2026 (BSS) - Condemning the murder of eight-year-old schoolgirl Ramisa, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today said the entire nation is deeply pained and shocked by this brutal incident.

The government has taken all necessary measures to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible, following the existing laws of the land.

The information minister made the statements while talking to journalists after a meeting of Sher-e-Bangla AK
 Fazlul Huq Foundation held at the International Mother Language Institute in city’s Segunbagicha area.

He said the country's people have deep affection, compassion and sympathy for all the children and adolescents, including Ramisa, who have been subjected to inhuman torture.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman himself has stood by the bereaved family of Ramisa to express the nation's sentiment and condolences for the barbaric incident, he said. 

Swapon said the government's strict legal initiatives and the anger in the minds of the people against this crime are being highlighted by journalists, creating public opinion. 

Based on this strong public opinion, the government will be able to create more strict and effective laws in the future, so that such crimes like child abuse can be eradicated from the society forever, he said. 

Replying to a question about the measures against unregistered educational institutions, the information minister said, "The expansion of any educational institution is good for us. However, we have to ensure that it adheres to the rules and regulations within our specific curriculum and in everything."

He said the Education Minister and the Ministry of Education are already working on this issue.

Responding to another question regarding the attack on Nasiruddin Patwari and the delay in filing a case with police station, Swapon said, "I myself have read the news in a daily newspaper. However, I have not received any clear or official information about the matter yet. The Home Minister has already spoken about this issue."
