Ministry urges hajj pilgrims to avoid direct sunlight

DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs has urged hajj pilgrims to avoid direct exposure to sunlight following directives from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The ministry requested the pilgrims to take several preventive measures for their safety, said a press release.

The pilgrims have been advised to take rest in shaded areas and use transport for movement. They were also asked to carry umbrellas or arrange head coverings while walking and use shaded routes.

Besides, the pilgrims have been requested to drink water regularly. To ensure comfortable worship, they were urged to avoid staying under the sun for long periods without protection and refrain from walking in direct sunlight during excessive heat.

The ministry said it has been carrying out extensive activities jointly with the Saudi government this year to raise awareness among hajj pilgrims.

New awareness contents are being uploaded almost every day on the ministry's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/share/18o2D2qzXf/) and shared in different groups related to hajj management.
