Dulu seeks global cooperation for safe Rohingya repatriation

DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, today sought cooperation from the international community to ensure the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of forcibly displaced Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar.

The minister made the call during a meeting with a joint high-level mission of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the World Food Programme (WFP) at the Secretariat here, said a PID release.

The mission is being conducted with a plan to ensure a sustainable solution for the Rohingyas through more coordinated management of Rohingya humanitarian assistance activities and improvement of the internal situation in Myanmar.

UNHCR Deputy High Commissioner Kelly T. Clements and WFP Assistant Executive Director Rania Dagash-Kamara jointly led the mission.

Ambassadors, high commissioners and senior donor representatives from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and European Commission took part in the meeting.

Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Khan and senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.
