RMSTU introduces 'Deans Award' for student's academic success.

Rangamati, May 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Rangamati Science and Technology University (RMSTU) authority has introduced the 'Deans Award' for the first time for its students in recognition of merit and academic success.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Atiar Rahman was present as the chief guest at the 'Deans Award Giving Ceremony' at the conference room of the RMSTU's Academic Building-1 this morning, said a press release.

University's Registrar (Acting) and Associate Professor of the Department of Management Mohammad Junaid Kabir presided over the programme.

Chairman of the Department of Management (Acting) Asifa Nargis, Chairman of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science Dr Nikhil Chakma, Dean and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology Dr Touhidul Islam and, Dean and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Business Administration Dr Muhammad Rahim Uddin.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, the VC said the Dean's Award is not only recognition of achieving a good CGPA, but also recognition of regular studies throughout the year, sincerity, honesty, 100% class attendance and adherence to the discipline and etiquette of the university.

He called for the continuation of the Dean's Award every year in recognition of the merit, hard work and good work of the students, the release added.

This year, for the first time, Itika Aich, a student of the Department of Management of the 2019-2020 academic year, and Zafrin Akhter Shila, a student of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, received the Dean's Award.

The award-winning students said this recognition will help serve as an inspiration in their future path.

The students were awarded crests, certificates and checks according to the Dean's Award Policy-2025 of RMSTU.

Students who have achieved a CGPA of 3.75 or above in the undergraduate (honors) examination are considered eligible for this award, according to the Award policy. 

However, students participating in re-admission, supplementary or quality improvement examinations and those involved in activities against law and order are not eligible for this award.

Deans of various faculties of the university, departmental chairmen, teachers, officials and students were present at the event.
