WB delegation calls on road transport minister

DHAKA, May 6, 2026 (BSS) - A World Bank (WB) delegation called on Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam at Road Transport and Highways Division conference room at the Secretariat here today.

WB Division Director, Bangladesh and Bhutan Jean Pesme led the delegation while Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr. Mohammed Ziaul Haque, Shipping Secretary Zakaria, and other senior officials from the relevant ministries were present.

During the meeting, the minister said that the World Bank is one of Bangladesh’s most important development partners. 

Rabiul, also Minister for Railways and Shipping, hoped that ongoing and future development activities would be further accelerated through mutual cooperation. 

He also emphasized continuing joint initiatives in infrastructure development.

Jean Pesme expressed interest in expanding cooperative partnerships in the sectors of roads, bridges, shipping, and railways. 

The meeting also included discussions on the progress of ongoing projects, along with assurances of broader cooperation in  future.
