RAJSHAHI, May 4, 2026 (BSS) - World Intellectual Property Day was observed at
Rajshahi University (RU) today.
This year's theme was 'IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate', which
highlighted the importance of intellectual property in sports and innovation
in a new way.
The day was organized by RU's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
To mark the day, a procession started at 10 am from the Senate Building
premises, circled the campus, and concluded with a brief rally in front of
the Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji Academic Building.
The procession was attended by Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Faridul Islam,
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin, Pro-Vice-
Chancellor (Education) Professor Farid Uddin Khan, Treasurer Professor Md.
Matiar Rahman, Proctor Professor Md. Mahbubur Rahman and IQAC Director
Professor Abu Reza, along with distinguished teachers, researchers, and
others concerned.
At the rally, the Vice-Chancellor said that the main objective of observing
the day this year was to spread awareness among students about protecting
innovation and creativity and the proper use of intellectual property in
sports.
He noted that such events will raise awareness of intellectual property among
students and play a supportive role in opening new horizons for research and
innovation in the future.
