RAJSHAHI, May 4, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) will welcome undergraduate first-year students of the 2025–26 academic session with a grand orientation on May 9.
This orientation for new students is organized every year.
After the orientation, first-year classes will formally begin on May 10. The RUET administration made this decision at the 157th Academic Council meeting held recently.
RUET has a total of 1,230 seats across 14 departments under three engineering faculties.
Of these, the CSE, EEE, CE, and ME departments have 180 seats each; the MTE, CME, IPE, MSE, URP, ECE, and ETE departments have 60 seats each; and the ARCH, CHE, and ECM departments have 30 seats each.
The admission process for the 2025–26 academic session at RUET officially began on February 3. Before that, online applications were accepted from December 2 to December 13.
The admission test was held on January 22. Out of 18,277 applicants, 15,567 took part in the exam. In the results published on January 24, 7,702 students passed in Group ‘Ka’ and 274 passed in Group ‘Kha’.
Later, the admission process started on February 3.
After initial selection, students had to go through a lengthy process including final selection, filling out online department preference forms based on the merit list, submitting required documents, and undergoing a health check-up under RUET’s medical board.
To make the admission process easier for students, an ‘auto migration’ system was in place. Through this, students had the opportunity to transfer to a higher-preference department subject to seat availability.
