DHAKA, May 3, 2026 (BSS) - The first meeting of a special committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban to formulate recommendations on addressing the recent energy situation and to prepare a report for submission to Parliament.
The meeting was presided over by Committee Chairman and Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Iqbal Hassan Mahmood at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today.
Committee members State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, Whip A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin (Nijan), Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, Moinul Islam Khan, Md. Nurul Islam, Md. Abdul Baten, Md. Abul Hasnat and Mohammad Abul Hasan attended the meeting, said a press release.
During the meeting, the ministry presented an overview of the country’s overall energy situation through a detailed presentation.
The committee expressed satisfaction over the measures already taken by the ministry to face the ongoing energy challenges.
Members of the committee reviewed various aspects of the current energy situation and provided their opinions and suggestions. The committee decided to hold further meetings and submit a comprehensive report with necessary recommendations to Parliament.
The Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the Secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, and other concerned officials were also present at the meeting.
