Turkish firm eyes HSIA ground handling services

DHAKA, May 3, 2026 (BSS) - Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen today 
said Turkish company Çelebi Aviation Holding is interested in providing 
ground handling services at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, opening a 
new avenue for aviation cooperation between the two countries.

The ambassador expressed the interest during a courtesy call on Civil 
Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam at her office in Dhaka, said a 
foreign ministry's press release here. 

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat was 
present at the meeting.

During the meeting, both sides underscored the need for further strengthening 
bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Turkey, according to an official 
handout.

They also discussed possible Turkish cooperation in the development of 
Bangladesh's tourism sector.

At the meeting, the ambassador informed the minister that Çelebi Aviation 
Holding is keen to provide ground handling services at Hazrat Shahjalal 
International Airport, the country's premier international gateway.

The minister and the state minister expressed their willingness to work 
closely with Turkey to further expand cooperation in civil aviation and 
tourism sectors.
