Govt. to intensify operations to curb adulterated drugs, medical malpractices: Minister

DHAKA, May 3, 2026 (BSS)- Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain has said mobile team operations will be intensified countrywide to prevent adulterate medicines and medical malpractice.

“Strict measures will be taken to prevent sale of contaminated drugs in dispensaries,” he told a press briefing after the second session of the Deputy Commissioners (DC) Conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here today.

He noted that cooperation from deputy commissioners has been sought to address existing problems in the country’s health sector. 

Various limitations were highlighted by the DCs, and discussions were held on what steps could be effective to overcome them.

Emphasizing cleanliness to minimize dengue risk, the minister said prevention should be prioritized over treatment in tackling dengue.

He also mentioned that instructions have been given to ensure a steady supply of anti-rabies vaccines for rabies prevention and antivenom for snakebite treatment.

Referring to the ongoing measles vaccination campaign, the minister said progress is satisfactory, with about 81percent of the target already achieved, and full coverage will be ensured soon. 
He further stated that initiatives have been taken to deploy Ansar members at upazila health complexes and other healthcare centers. 

Each center will have a team of 10 Ansar personnel, including one platoon commander, and this will be implemented quickly, he added.
