Overall dev activities to be highlighted during PM’s Sylhet visit: Muktadir

SYLHET, May 1, 2026 (BSS) – Commerce, Industries, and Textiles and Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir today said that the overall picture of the government’s ongoing development activities in Sylhet will become clearer during the Prime Minister’s visit tomorrow.

“Development initiatives pledged during the election period have already begun in Sylhet. A comprehensive outline of completed and upcoming projects will be presented to the public during the Prime Minister’s visit,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while talking to journalists after inspecting the venue for the Natun Kuri Sports 2026 at the Sylhet District Stadium.

Muktadir said that implementation of development initiatives pledged during the election period have already begun in Sylhet, adding that a comprehensive outline of completed and upcoming projects will be presented to the public during the Prime Minister’s visit.

Describing the visit as highly anticipated, Muktadir termed it a moment of great emotional significance for the people of Sylhet.

 He also referred to the sacrifices made by political activists who endured years of hardship and repression for their preferred government.

Highlighting the leadership of Tarique Rahman, the minister said that the people of Sylhet would witness a reflection of his disciplined and pragmatic leadership in the country’s forward march.

Regarding preparations, the minister confirmed that all arrangements for the Prime Minister’s arrival have been completed smoothly, expressing confidence that no difficulties would arise. 

He also hoped that the Prime Minister would address the long-standing demands and expectations of the people of Sylhet in his speech.

During the inspection, the minister was accompanied by senior officials, including Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Md. Sarwar Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet; Abdul Kayum Chowdhury, Administrator of Sylhet City Corporation; Abul Kaher Chowdhury Shamim, Administrator of Sylhet Zila Parishad; and Md. Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Administrator of Sunamganj Zila Parishad.

Leaders and activists from the metropolitan and district units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated bodies were also present on the occasion.
