JASHORE, May 1, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit today said steps are being implemented to rid the Jessore municipality of chronic waterlogging, assuring residents of significant relief in the coming monsoon.

He said the sufferings of city dwellers would be reduced by at least 50 percent compared to last year as a result of the ongoing initiatives.

The state minister made the remarks while inaugurating RCC development work from Bhola Tank Road in Ward No. 6 to M.M Ali Road (Gurudas Babu Lane) in the municipality this morning.

He noted that despite being an old municipality, many roads in Jashore remain in poor condition. To address the issue, the government has taken phased special measures to renovate roads and make them suitable for smooth public movement.

"The government is working in a planned manner to resolve long-standing drainage and infrastructure problems in Jashore so that residents no longer suffer from waterlogging as in previous years," he said.

Jashore district BNP President Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon, Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam and municipality Administrator Rafiqul Hasan, among others, were present at the event.
