DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has formed an 8-member committee to organize cultural events marking the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, which will be celebrated on May 25.
According to a directive of the ministry, the committee will be responsible for preparing plans for a five-day cultural program, selecting artists, and ensuring overall coordination.
The committee will also be able to convene meetings and co-opt additional members if necessary.
The committee is headed by the Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as the convener, while the Senior Assistant Secretary (Events) of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will serve as member secretary.
Other members of the committee include: Joint Secretary (Event) of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Deputy Secretary (Event) of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Director of the Kazi Nazrul Islam Institute, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Mymensingh, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Trishal, District Cultural Officer, and the District Shilpakala Academy Officer of Mymensingh.
The directive calls for the coordination and finalization of the cultural program plan within the next five days.
