Labour Minister visits fire-damaged factory in Demra

DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) – Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury today visited the fire-affected factory, Imu Rotoflex, in the capital’s Demra area.

Earlier, a fire broke out around noon at the carton-manufacturing factory located in Amulia Model Town, Demra. Upon receiving news of the incident, the minister immediately rushed to the spot, said an official handout.

After reaching the spot, the minister inspected different sections of the damaged factory and inquired about the extent of the losses.

He also directed the formation of a high-level investigation committee to determine the actual cause of the fire.

Two people injured in the incident were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.

One of them was released after receiving primary treatment, while the other was admitted to the hospital.

Following the minister’s directive, a six-member investigation committee has been formed by the Dhaka district administration. The committee, headed by Additional District Magistrate Md Shamim Hossain as its convener, has been asked to submit its report as quickly as possible.

During the visit, the minister emphasised strengthening factory safety measures and assured that proper treatment would be ensured for the injured.
