US delegation meets PM's Defence Adviser

DHAKA, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - A high-level delegation from the United States today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam.

The meeting was held at the Armed Forces Division office at Dhaka Cantonment, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the meeting, the US delegation was briefed on the priority areas of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.

The two sides also discussed potential areas of cooperation to enhance the capacity and professional skills of the forces through the Indo-Pacific Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU).

Both sides expressed optimism about further strengthening and expanding existing defence cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States.

They also underscored the importance of consolidating bilateral military relations and deepening the strategic partnership in the days ahead.

Chief of the United States Military Group at the US Embassy in Dhaka Lieutenant Colonel Robert Greene, DSCU Regional Program Lead and Assistant Professor Michael Rembold and two other DSCU representatives were present, among others, at the meeting.
