Pakistan HC meets Agriculture Minister

DHAKA, April 27, 2026 (BSS) - Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider met with Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Amin Ur Rashid at his office at the secretariat here today.

During the meeting, various issues of mutual cooperation including import-export of agricultural products, education and research, agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors of the two countries were discussed.

Amin Ur Rashid said that there are many similarities in the agricultural sectors of Bangladesh and Pakistan. The government is planning to restructure agriculture to make Bangladesh's agricultural sector export-oriented, he added. 

The minister said that the government is working by prioritizing high-yielding crops and modern farming systems. 

Highlighting the country's future prospects with the Blue Economy, the minister said, “We are working on sustainable technologies for harvesting our deep sea resources, especially fisheries. A fisheries survey has already been completed with the cooperation of experienced countries in this regard.” 

HC Haider said that Pakistan is interested in working together in the agriculture and livestock sectors of Bangladesh. Full scholarships are being given to Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in agriculture and veterinary subjects in various educational institutions in Pakistan, he added.
