DHAKA, April 26, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladeshi diplomats at the United Nations, particularly in Geneva, are actively promoting the agenda and vision of the newly-elected government through proactive multilateral diplomacy.
Bangladesh diplomats are building a strong and dynamic presence across UN offices and agencies, moving beyond traditional diplomacy to influence global policy on peace, climate change and sustainable development, according to a press release issued by Bangladesh Mission in Geneva.
Their sustained efforts, described as “proactive diplomacy,” are significantly strengthening Bangladesh’s voice in international discourse, it added.
“We salute all delegates of all UN member states for their invaluable and relentless efforts in championing multilateral diplomacy to promote the common vision of a better world for future generations, for which the United Nations was created in 1945,” read the release.
The remarks came as United Nations organisations observed International Delegates’ Day on Saturday, recognising the vital role of delegates in advancing dialogue, cooperation and multilateral solutions.
According to the mission, delegates embody the spirit of multilateralism through dialogue and negotiation to address shared global challenges, including pandemics, climate change, development constraints and security threats.
They are regarded as the backbone of multilateral diplomacy, bringing the UN system to life through negotiations, compromises and coordinated diplomatic action.
Delegates represent their countries’ interests, promote human rights and development, maintain peace and coordinate responses to global issues at the UN General Assembly and offices in Geneva, Vienna, Nairobi, Rome and Paris.
