THAKURGAON, April 24, 2026, (BSS)- Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Secretary General of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said there is no such energy crisis in the country but a vested group is creating a energy crisis to take advantage.
He said this while distributing cheque of financial assistance and other relief materials among poor and different religious organizations at Mirza Ruhul Amin Municipal Auditorium here today.
The minister said the government is trying to resolve the electricity crisis and the farmers are not affected in any way.
The relief was distributed among the families affected by cyclones and hailstorms from the funds of Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
BNP District President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygam Ali and senior government officials were present.
Mirza Fakhrul requested everyone not to listen to rumours and negative words saying a total of 13 people lost their lives in Thakurgaon during fight to topple a fascist.
“We have started the journey to establish democracy and development of the country to pay due respect to those martyrs,” he said.
The present government has started implementing every promise it made before the people ahead of polls. Steps were taken for upgrading Bhulli and Ruhiya to upazila, construction of a medical college, airport, road and EPZs.
“Prime Minister's Industrial Advisor Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir has visited Thakurgaon to verify the feasibility of what else can be done here,” he said.
"We must also keep in mind the current global situation. Like rest of the world, we have suffered greatly from the US-Iran war. Our government is always ready to deal with any crisis taking people on board,” he said.
Later, the minister distributed cheques of assistance and corrugated tins among poor. Financial assistance of total Taka 20 crore was given.
