RAJSHAHI, April 24, 2026 (BSS) - A newly constructed hall for male students at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) is set to open soon.
The hall has already been equipped with basic facilities, including water and electricity, and students are expected to move in shortly, sources said.
Director of the university's Planning and Development Office Prof Dr H M Russell, Director of Student Welfare Prof Dr Robiul Islam Sarkar and ICT Cell Director Prof Dr Samiul Habib inspected the hall on Thursday and expressed satisfaction with the overall preparations.
Officials said the hall is nearly ready for accommodation, with finishing work expected to be completed next week.
Regarding internet connectivity, Prof Dr Samiul Habib said installation work has been completed and the service is expected to be launched in the first week of May.
Installation of the lift has already begun and may take about one more month to become fully operational.
Prof Dr H M Russell said although the original deadline was December 31, 2026, the work was expedited for student welfare, making it possible to hand over the hall within this month.
Prof Dr Robiul Islam Sarkar said formal accommodation activities are expected to begin by April 30, though dining services may take about 10 more days to start.
Despite initial delays due to the contractor's slow progress, the project is now nearing completion, officials said, expressing hope that students will soon be able to move in comfortably.
