DHAKA, April 22, 2026 (BSS) – The Energy Division today said its nationwide campaign against illegally stored petroleum yielded recovery of 5,76,993 litres of oil through mobile courts in 49 days until April 21.
An Energy Division statement said 11,197 executive magistrate-led mobile courts were conducting nationwide drives since March 3 to smoothen the fuel supply system amid the energy crunch due to the Middle East crisis.
“Under the drives, 3,90,209 litres of diesel, 40,846 litres of octane, 97,438 litres of petrol and 48,500 litres of furnace oil were recovered,” it said adding that 4,053 cases were field and 54 individuals were sentenced for petroleum stockpiling.
The statement said the mobile courts realized as well Taka 1,80,96,115 under the cases were realized during the 49 days adding the campaign would continue to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel oil and prevent irregularities.
It urged people to contact designated vigilance teams to provide information on illegal stockpiling.
