BOGURA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Local Government, Rural
Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Mir Shahe Alam today said the government
has taken necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel until
June as its stock and supply in the country remain normal.
"There is no reason for panic over fuel. Supply and stock are stable, and
everyone is getting fuel. It may take a few more days for the situation to
fully stabilize," he told a free eye treatment camp at Shibganj Government
Pilot High School ground in Bogura, organised by Mir Shah-e-Alam Foundation
and GAK Eye Hospital.
The minister said the government has not increased fuel prices, rather it is
providing subsidies to ensure supply by purchasing fuel at higher
international rates. In this regard, around Taka 36,000 crore will be spent
until June, he added.
Referring to development activities in Bogura, he said the Prime Minister
Tarique Rahman may visit the district on April 20, during which he is
expected to inaugurate the e-bail bond programme and distribution of family
cards.
The state minister further said that sustainable development is not possible
without cooperation from private organisations.
Initiatives are underway to establish an agricultural product processing
centre at Mahasthan-Mokamtola, jointly implemented by the Bangladesh
Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) and the Ministry of Agriculture,
he said.
He also said there are plans to upgrade Bogura Science and Technology
University into a full-fledged institution.
