DHAKA, April 05, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit today said the nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign has been launched with the highest priority to ensure the health protection of every child across the country.

“Measles is a serious infectious disease. Its complications are seen more in children. However, prevention of this disease through vaccination is very effective. Vaccination has already started in the areas where measles is prevalent; this program will be continued in the remaining areas in phases. No child will be left out,” he said.

He said these while inaugurating the 'Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign' at Bhawal Mirzapur Union Parishad in Gazipur. 

MA Muhith said that considering the current outbreak of measles in the country, this campaign will be conducted in phases to prevent rapid transmission. 

Dr SM Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, MP, Manjurul Karim Rony, MP, UNICEF Deputy Representative Emmanuel Abriox and World Health Organization Deputy Country Representative Dr. Rajesh Narwal, among others, were present at the event.
