Shariful for keeping incentive distribution free from political influence

KISHOREGANJ, April 3, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md 
Shariful Alam today called for keeping the government's incentive programmes 
for farmers, free from any kind of political influence. 

He instructed the concerned officials to ensure that genuine farmers receive 
the benefits.

"Once known as the country's 'golden fiber' and an important part of the 
national heritage, jute has gradually declined over time. The government is 
now working to restore the sector to a strong position," the state minister 
said while inaugurating the free distribution of seeds and fertilizers to 
farmers in Kuliarchar, Kishoreganj this morning.

He inaugurated the programme at Upazila Parishad (UP) auditorium at 10.30 am.

Under the programme, each of the 1,800 farmers in the upazila received five 
kilograms (KGs) of Aus paddy seeds, 10-kg of DAP, and 10-kg of MOP 
fertilizers. 

In addition, one-kg of Tossa jute seeds was distributed to each of the 1,900 
farmers.
