DHAKA, Mar 25, 2026 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said the government is planning to complete the SSC and HSC examinations by December 31 each year to save valuable academic time for students.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting held at the Education Ministry on the smooth organisation of the 2026 HSC and equivalent examinations.
The minister said that under the current system, students often face delays in sitting for their SSC and HSC examinations, resulting in a loss of nearly two years of academic time, which he described as a major setback for the nation.
He added that the ministry is working on a set of reform measures, including feasibility studies, to ensure that examinations are completed within December each year.
He also announced that from this year, a uniform question paper will be introduced for the HSC examinations across all education boards, while CCTV cameras will be installed in every examination centre to ensure transparency.
In addition, the minister said a high-level committee will be formed to examine the necessity and feasibility of reducing the number of subjects in SSC and HSC examinations in the future.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining integrity in the examination system, Milon declared a “zero tolerance” policy against question leaks and malpractice.
He stressed that a cheating-free environment is essential for the development of students’ merit and said the role of teachers in preventing irregularities will remain crucial.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Abdul Khaleque.
Senior officials from the ministry and chairmen of all education boards, including Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, were present.
