DHAKA, March 25, 2026 (BSS) – A three-member delegation of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) today paid a courtesy call on Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal at his office in the Parliament building.
The delegation comprised John Joseph Lis (USA), Nenad Marinkovic (Republic of Serbia) and Maria Chowdhury (Bangladesh).
During the meeting, they discussed in detail various issues, including parliamentary activities, introduction of research-based projects, parliamentary culture and practices, use of Italian software for e-Parliament, strengthening legislative and administrative functions, number and activities of parliamentary committees, enhancing accountability, history and tradition of parliament, budget allocation, activities of the Public Accounts Committee, and the practice of opposition walkouts.
Replying to different queries, the Deputy Speaker shared his plans regarding the activities of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad and expressed his commitment to making parliament more effective and dynamic as the centre of democratic practice.
The IFES delegation expressed satisfaction over the Deputy Speaker’s remarks.
Secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Kaniz Mowla and concerned officials were present, among others.
