RAB strengthens security for Genocide Day, Independence Day

DHAKA, Mar 24, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has undertaken extensive and multi-layered security measures across the country to ensure a peaceful and secure observance of Genocide Day on March 25 and Independence and National Day on March 26.

According to an official statement, RAB has deployed a sufficient number of personnel nationwide, including in the capital Dhaka, to prevent any untoward incidents during the two important national occasions.

Intelligence surveillance, including plainclothes monitoring, has been intensified as a precautionary measure.

Special security arrangements have been put in place at key venues such as the National Memorial at Savar, National Parade Square, and other important locations where state programmes and public gatherings will take place.

High-profile presence, including the President, Prime Minister, cabinet members, diplomats, and senior civil and military officials, is expected at national-level programmes.

RAB said security has been tightened at all event sites, including parades, discussions, cultural programmes, film screenings, and fairs across metropolitan cities, divisional headquarters, and districts.

To prevent any disruption, RAB members are actively monitoring the activities of banned organizations and potential extremist elements.

The RAB Cyber Monitoring Team is also operating round the clock to curb the spread of rumours, misinformation, and provocative content on digital platforms.

Security has been further reinforced at locations where large crowds, including VVIPs, VIPs, and foreign diplomats, are expected to gather.

Temporary check posts have been set up at key entry and exit points of cities, along with other important places.

In addition, RAB's Bomb Disposal Unit and Dog Squad will conduct sweeping operations in high-security zones, including the Savar National Memorial and National Parade Square, to eliminate any potential threats.

All RAB battalions are working in close coordination with local administration, public representatives, and other law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

A central control room at RAB headquarters is overseeing and coordinating security operations nationwide, while local control rooms remain active in respective jurisdictions.

RAB has called for public cooperation to maintain law and order during the national observances.

Citizens have been urged to promptly report any suspicious activities or incidents to the nearest RAB patrol or battalion commander for immediate action.

Authorities expressed confidence that, with coordinated efforts and public support, the national days will be observed in a peaceful, safe, and dignified manner across the country.
