DHAKA, March 24, 2026 (BSS) – Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku today urged people not to create unnecessary long queues at petrol pumps as sufficient fuel available in the depots.

“The government has neither increased fuel prices nor reduced supply, and therefore there is no justification for lining up at petrol pumps to collect fuel,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while speaking to reporters at his office in the Secretariat this morning.

He added that the government is ensuring adequate fuel supply and will continue its efforts as long as possible.

“I would also like to appeal the public, especially vehicle owners, not to purchase fuel beyond their needs. Stockpiling will only increase congestion and lengthen queues,” he said.

He said that government depots remained closed on Eid day and the following day due to public holidays, which temporarily halted fuel distribution.

“This may have caused a shortfall at some petrol pumps. However, depots have resumed operations from this morning, and petrol pumps will receive fuel. I do not think there is any need to queue up for fuel,” he said.

“There is fuel, and we are continuing supply. Do not buy more than your needs,” he said.
