Ruman for keeping dignity of journalism

BOGURA, March 23, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman today called upon the journalists to maintain professionalism to keep the dignity and reputation of the noble profession.

He made this remark as the chief guest at a discussion on “Journalism of previous period and current time” organized to enhance the professional skills of young journalists at a hotel in the district town.

Ruman said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, a distinguished son of Bogura, has always been committed to the development of the district. 

He said initiatives will also be taken to introduce undergraduate-level studies in journalism in the district. 

The additional press secretary said he would discuss with authorities concerned to weather a branch of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) can be established in Bogura, along with plans to arrange basic training programmes for local journalists.

Abul Kalam Azad, convener of the local journalists’ community of the 1990s and general secretary of the Bogura Press Club, chaired the programme while Mozammel Haque Lalu, editor of the Dainik Karatoa, and Rezaul Hasan Ranu, president of the Bogura Press Club spoke as the special guests.
Dr. Khandakar Alamgir Hossain, executive director of Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK); Engineer Md. Shahabuddin Saikat, president of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) Bogura; and Suman Talukdar, news editor of Star News, also spoke.

Around 50 young journalists from the new generation participated in the event. Senior journalist Mohan Akhand moderated the programme.
