CHATTOGRAM, March 20, 2026 (BSS): State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid emphasized the need for strict measures to enhance the quality of train services and prevent black marketing. The goal is to make the railway more appealing and popular among the general public.
The government is committed on improving service quality and eliminating mismanagement.
During a visit to the Chattogram Railway Station, the State Minister mentioned that modernization efforts are currently in progress. Following the Prime Minister's directives, plans are underway to introduce WiFi services on trains.
In response to concerns about train accidents and safety, the State Minister assured that steps are being taken to ensure the safety of train travel. The government aims to make trains a preferred mode of transportation that is affordable for all. Efforts are ongoing on to bring rail services closer to the people and expand the range of services available.
The government has a special development plan for the Chattogram Railway Station, according to the State Minister for Railways. To address the railway's losses and improve profitability, the ministry is identifying areas of mismanagement and waste.
Concerns about ticket sales software flaws and black marketing have been acknowledged, with plans to enhance the software and prevent corruption, he said adding passengers' reactions to the Eid train journey were generally positive, but delays in connecting trains were a common complaint, particularly from passengers coming from Mymensingh, Jamalpur, and Sylhet.
State Minister Habibur Rashid also interacted with passengers at the railway station, discussing their experiences and providing directions to improve passenger service.
