JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - Professor Dr. Md. Nurul 
Islam of Jahangirnagar University's Geography and Environment department has 
been made the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka Central University(DCU).

Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milan made the announcement at a 
press briefing at the Ministry of Education this afternoon.

Prof Md. Nurul Islam graduated with a PhD from the University of Nottingham, 
the United Kingdom (UK) in 2011.
 
Earlier, he completed his B.Sc (Honours) and M.Sc (Thesis) in Geography from 
Jahangirnagar University in 1992 and 1993 respectively.

Prof Nurul Islam has been serving as the Pro-VC of National University since 
November 3, 2024.
