DHAKA, March 10, 2026 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Chief
Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam today said that after assuming office, he
instructed every prosecutor that anyone wishing to work with him must rise
above all greed and personal interests; otherwise, they should step aside.
"Today, reports have been published regarding a prosecutor who has already
resigned, and whose resignation has been accepted. We will initiate an
internal investigation from the Office of the Chief Prosecutor," Md Aminul
Islam said at a press briefing this afternoon.
He further said that the report they received contains a serious allegation,
which should not have been brought against any of their prosecutors. Legal
action would be taken if a formal complaint is submitted regarding the
matter, he added.
Speaking to journalists at the Chief Prosecutor's Office, he added that he
has taken initiatives to make the ICT more dynamic. He held meetings with
case investigators and prosecutors, and has already taken custody of the
files of several cases. In the interest of justice, he feels it is necessary
to personally oversee the management of these cases.
The press briefing followed newspaper reports on former prosecutor Md Saimum
Reza Talukder, who allegedly tried to negotiate with the family of an accused
at the ICT for a hefty sum of money.
Md Saimum Reza Talukder resigned from his post on March 9.
