DHAKA, March 09, 2026 (BSS) – The government today issued a notification urging people to remain vigilant against the circulation of a so-called “Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Redress Ordinance-2025” on social media platforms, saying the ordinance is completely fake, fabricated and misleading.
“Recently, a so-called ordinance titled ‘Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Redress Ordinance-2025’ has been circulated on social media platforms, which is completely fake, fabricated and misleading,” said an official handout received here today.
A vested group is deliberately spreading such false information on social media with the aim of creating confusion and instability and spreading misinformation among the people, it said, urging people not to become confused by such propaganda.
The notification said, “When a government ordinance or law is formulated, it is published through the appropriate process and the public is informed through the relevant government and mass media. Therefore, everyone is requested to refrain from believing or sharing any information circulated on social media without verifying it.”
The government urged all to remain wary of those spreading such false and misleading information and not to spread any kind of rumours or propaganda. If necessary, the concerned authorities will take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
Collective awareness and responsible behaviour of everyone can play the most effective role in preventing rumours and false information, it added.
