MYMENSINGH, Mar 9, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yeaser Khan Chowdhury today said all media outlets in the country will work independently,
“The incumbent government wants the media to work independently with responsibility and highlighting different anomalies in the society,” he told journalists after a meeting of the ‘District Law and Order Committee’ here this morning.
Held at the conference room of the Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner (DC) office, DC and District Magistrate Md Saifur Rahman chaired the meeting.
About formulating new policies for journalists, he said necessary steps will be taken after taking the opinions of all concerned, including the representatives of the journalist community.
“If someone commits a crime by using the name of a person or media or a fake ID on social media, the aggrieved person can take shelter in the law,” Yeasr Khan mentioned.
During the meeting, the state minister also gave necessary directives on the overall law and order situation across the country, drug control, prevention of juvenile gangs and traffic tailback.
Noting that the main reason for traffic congestion in Mymensingh city is not the road crisis, but the lack of management, he said local administration must take effective steps to evict illegal establishments and control vehicles.
Yeaser Khan Chowdhury also sought all-out cooperation in this regard.
Stating that there is sufficient petrol and diesel stock in the country, the state minister also said, “If there is a fuel crisis anywhere, it is being monitored and action is being taken in this connection.”
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M Iqbal Hossain, MP, Salman Omar Rubel, MP, of Mymensingh-1 (Haluaghat-Dhobaura) constituency, Mufti Muhammadullah, MP, from Mymensingh-2 (Tarakanda-Phulpur) constituency, Abu Wahab Akand Wahid, MP, of Mymensingh-4 (Sadar) constituency, Zakir Hossain Bablu, MP, from Mymensingh-5 (Muktagachha) constituency, Kamrul Hasan Milon, MP from Mymensingh-6 (Phulbaria) constituency, and Md. Akhtaruzzaman Bachchu, MP from Mymensingh-10 (Gafargaon-Pagla) constituency, among others, were present there.
Besides, Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mizanur Rahman, senior officials of the district administration, members of the law enforcement agencies, and representatives of various government departments, among others, were also present.
