DHAKA, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - A delegation of the European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters here today.
The delegation was led by the Head of the Mission Roger Clayton.
During the meeting, the head of the delegation highly appreciated the professionalism, dedication and coordinated efforts of the Bangladesh Police in maintaining law and order during the elections.
He noted that the police's electoral training, the use of body-worn cameras while performing duties, and the 'pocket book' on security responsibilities played an effective role in ensuring a secure election environment.
On behalf of the EU Mission, Roger Clayton handed over a certificate of appreciation to the IGP in recognition of the role played by Bangladesh Police.
The IGP thanked the delegation and said the role of foreign observers during the elections was commendable.
Bangladesh Police had taken necessary measures to ensure the security of foreign observers and journalists coming from different countries, organisations and institutions, he added.
Senior officials of Bangladesh Police were present during the meeting.
After the meeting, both sides expressed hope for further strengthening mutual cooperation in the future.
