BRUR closes from March 9 advancing Eid-ul-Fitr vacation for energy conservation

RANGPUR, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) has announced closure of all academic and administrative activities from today after advancing its Eid-ul-Fitr vacation following directives from the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conserve energy.

The decision was taken in response to a special instruction issued by the Ministry of Education on Sunday (March 8), according to a university press release issued today.

The directive said that in the current situation, considering energy conservation measures along with the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, all classes, examinations and administrative activities of the university will remain suspended from March 9.

The order will remain effective until the end of the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday scheduled in the university's academic calendar on March 28, 2026.

During this period, all departments, institutes and administrative offices of the university will remain closed.

However, emergency services will remain operational.

The university authorities have requested all students, teachers, officers and employees to comply with the directive, the release added.
