DHAKA, March 8, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh today said it expected Japan to continue as its largest development partner as it was in the past as a JICA delegation met with Prime Minister’s Adviser on public administration M Ismail Zabihullah at his secretariat office.
According to an official press release Zabihullah explained the new government's 180-day plan to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation and expressed his hope to receive Tokyo’s support for the endeavor.
“The adviser (Zabihullah) said he believed as it was in the past, Japan would remain as Bangladesh’s largest development partner,” the statement said.
JICA’s chief representative in Dhaka Tomohide Ichiguchi, who led the delegation, said apart from infrastructure developments Japan was willing as well to develop human resources in Bangladesh to create employment opportunities.
He explained JICA sponsored ongoing projects in Bangladesh and sought the new government’s supports for their implementation.
Zabihullah said a career planning project for administrative cadre officials was currently underway and their training at home abroad could intensify their efficiency to a large extent.
