DHAKA, March 8, 2026 (BSS) – The government has withdrawn five Bangladeshi envoys from their overseas postings and instructed them to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Dhaka, the ministry said today.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said four ambassadors appointed on a contractual basis have been withdrawn from their respective missions in Portugal, Poland, Mexico and the Maldives.

The ambassadors are Dr M. Mahfuzul Haque, Md Mainul Islam, M Mushfiqul Fazal (Ansarey) and Dr Md Nazmul Islam.

They have been transferred to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, the statement added.

In addition, Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Abida Islam has also been withdrawn from her post and transferred to the ministry’s headquarters.

All five envoys have been instructed to report to the headquarters, the ministry said.
