DHAKA, March 8, 2026 (BSS) – Chief Whip of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) M Nurul Islam today said the upcoming national parliament will be lively, effective and participatory.
“The government and the opposition will play role in expediting the development of the country through constructive discussion and exchange of views”, he said.
The chief whip told this to the journalists after paying tribute at the National Martyr’s Memorial in Savar here this morning.
The JS whips also paid homage at the memory of the martyrs through placing floral wreaths during this time. The whips are Alhaz M GK Gaus, Rakibul Islam, Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, M Akhtaruzzaman Mia and ABM Ashraf Uddin.
After paying tribute, they observed silence for a while and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the great war of Independence.
Later, the chief whip signed the visitor’s book at the National Martyr’s Memorial.
The chief whip said in the continuation of long 17 years of struggle, the BNP has formed the government after receiving two-third majority in the 13th national polls, adding that the present government will work for the welfare of the people in light of the electoral manifesto and 31-point announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
All sorts of preparation have been taken to make effective and lively the 13th Jatiya Sangsad session which is scheduled to begin from March 12, said the chief whip.
The chief whip also expected that the opposition will play important role in taking ahead the development activities of the country through constructive discussion and opinion at the Jatiya Sangsad.
He said the ordinances which were issued by the president during the interim government should be presented at the first session of the Jatiya Sangsad while there is an obligation to endorse these ordinances by 30 days according to the constitution.
The Jatiya Sangsad secretariat has taken necessary preparation to this end.
Jatiya Sangsad secretariat’s additional secretary, concerned officials including sergeant at arms and media workers were present.
