JU Chhatra Dal holds iftar, seeks forgiveness for Khaleda Zia

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of Bangladesh Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) today organised an iftar gathering seeking divine forgiveness for the departed soul of late Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The programme was held at the university's Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) premises with the participation of around 1,500 people, teachers, students and staff members. 

JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan was also present. 

Speaking at the event, JU unit Chhatra Dal convener Jahir Uddin Mohammad Babor said, "Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is no longer among us, but her political life, struggle for democracy and contributions to the country will always be remembered. We pray for the forgiveness of her soul. May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdous."

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan said, "Sharing iftar during the holy month of Ramadan strengthens fraternity and mutual harmony among people."

He also urged the organisation's leaders and activists to stand beside financially struggling students who face difficulties in continuing their studies.

The programme concluded with a special prayer seeking forgiveness for Begum Khaleda Zia's soul and praying for the welfare of the country, the nation and the Muslim Ummah. 

Besides, National University Pro-VC Prof Dr Md Nurul Islam, JCD Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib, Joint Secretaries - Shahriar Haque Mazumder Shimul, Md Rabbi Hasan, JU JCD Member Secretary Wasim Ahmed Anik, leaders and activists of the JU unit of Chhatra Dal, along with representatives from different student organisations, attended the programme.
