RANGAMATI, March 4, 2026 – Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today cautioned against any political or other considerations in preparing the government-planned “family cards” for the people of southeastern rugged region.

“The officials and law enforcement agencies concerned will have to play a proper role in ensuring transparent distribution of family cards prepared by the administration,” he said as deputy inspector general of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Salma Begum called on him at his residence in the hill district.

Dewan said political or party affiliation must not be considered while preparing the list of beneficiaries.

He said the planned family cards would show women as head of the family as a key-government objective was to ensure women’s participation at every level of society and the women in CHT would be lagging behind.

The DIG of the police’s armed combat branch briefed the minister about the activities of the newly established APBN units in the three hill districts of Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban.

She also informed the minister about APBN’s ongoing activities to maintain peace and order in the hill region.

Dewan assured her of necessary cooperation from the government for APBN.
