DHAKA, Mar 3, 2026 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has ordered the speedy disposal of applications for the voters’ registration of expatriate Bangladeshis.
A letter regarding this signed by Khan Abi Shahanur Khan, the EC's National Identity Card Registration Division Director (Registration and Expatriate), has been sent to all upazila thana election officers, said a release today.
The letter stated that the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls 2026 was held on February 12 where officials concerned at all levels have worked tirelessly to make this election a free, fair and impartial one. Due to this, the election has become acceptable at the local and international levels and all thanks to go for them, it said.
Noting that the registration process of Bangladeshi citizens living abroad is still ongoing at the concerned High Commission/Embassy/Consulate/Mission offices, the letter said the local investigation process of voters who have earlier provided biometrics at the above mentioned offices is completed by all the concerned Upazila/Thana Election Offices.
Due to the busy engagement in the JS polls 2026, it said numerous applications of expatriate voters remained pending for investigation.
Putting emphasis on it quick disposal, it has been directed to dispose of all the expatriate voters’ applications urgently, whose local investigation remained pending, the letter added.
