DHAKA, March 3, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said the government will revise existing textbooks and formulate a new curriculum to make education more time-befitting.
He said the reform initiatives will be carried out giving highest priority to the physical and mental development of students.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at an exchange of views meeting with officials at the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) office this afternoon.
Mentioning that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is giving the highest priority to education, he said no political consideration will be taken into account in revising textbooks and formulating the new curriculum. The work will be completed with the involvement of high-quality experts.
Dr. Ehsanul Hoque Milon further said there are plans to make physical education, mental health and fine arts education compulsory for students from Class IV.
He added these subjects will not only remain as textbook-based learning, but regular assessment tests will also be introduced so that students grow up creative and health-conscious from an early age.
The Minister said Tarique Rahman considers education the main foundation of national development. Therefore, ensuring quality and standard textbooks in the hands of students is one of the government's key objectives.
Chaired by NCTB Chairman (Acting) Md. Mahbubul Haque Patwary, the meeting was attended by Minister's Private Secretary Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmood Sohel, along with senior officials of the ministry and NCTB.
