DHAKA, March 3, 2026 (BSS) – Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his office in the capital’s Bashundhara area.
The meeting was held at 11:00 am in a cordial and warm atmosphere at the Opposition Leader’s office in Dhaka, said a press release.
During the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on his election as the Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad and wished him every success in his new role.
The two sides held open discussions on issues of mutual interest concerning the two countries. They expressed hope that economic, political, trade and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China would be further strengthened in the coming days, enhancing bilateral development and cooperation.
Deputy Head of Mission at the Chinese Embassy Dr. Liu Yuying, Director of the Political Section Zhang Jing, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, and Special Adviser on Foreign Affairs to the Ameer-e-Jamaat and Member of Parliament Barrister Mir Ahmed Bin Kasem Arman were also present at the meeting.
