DHAKA, March 1, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque today inspected the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mustofa Kamal Stadium in the capital's Kamalapur area.
During the visit, the state minister toured different sections of the stadium and reviewed its security arrangements and maintenance conditions.
He said the stadium is currently in an unprotected state. He also noted incidents of theft involving highly valuable components and blast equipment of the stadium's floodlights.
Referring to the dressing rooms and overall playing environment, Aminul Haque said staff members are residing in makeshift tin-shed rooms inside the premises, which is not appropriate for an international-standard stadium.
"We will hand over the responsibility of renovating the stadium to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) in the shortest possible time," he added.
The state minister further said that renovation work will be carried out through FIFA funds. To ensure security, measures are being taken to raise the boundary wall and install barbed-wire fencing, alongside arranging round-the-clock patrols with the assistance of the local police station.
He assured that the stadium would be restored to a suitable environment for players at the earliest possible time.
